Evidence-Based Therapies
Our clinical foundation is built on therapies with real research behind them, delivered by licensed clinicians. They help you understand what drives your addiction, build healthier patterns, and repair what matters, with holistic care woven in every day.
What Are Evidence-Based Therapies?
Evidence-based therapies are treatment approaches that have been studied, tested, and shown to work. They are the clinical backbone of effective addiction care, and at New Wave they are delivered by licensed clinicians who tailor them to you. Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, you get a personalized plan that draws on the right mix of proven methods for your situation.
What makes our approach different is the integration: every clinical session is supported by daily holistic care that calms the nervous system and helps the deeper work land. Leading research supports treating the whole person rather than the substance use alone, and that is exactly how we work.

Founded by people in recovery
When you call New Wave, you talk to someone who has walked this path, not a call center. This is personal for us.
The same therapist throughout
You keep your private therapist as you move between levels of care, so your progress is never interrupted and you never start over.
Holistic care, every day
Reiki, yoga, sound healing, and mindfulness are woven into daily treatment alongside evidence-based therapy, not offered once in a while.

Evidence-Based Therapy FAQs
Want to talk to a real person? Call us, someone in recovery will answer.
What are evidence-based therapies?
Evidence-based therapies are treatment approaches backed by strong scientific research, like CBT and DBT. They are proven to help people understand and change the patterns that drive addiction.
Which evidence-based therapies does New Wave offer?
We offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), group therapy, individual therapy, medication management, and family therapy, delivered by licensed clinicians.
Do you combine evidence-based therapy with holistic care?
Yes. Our clinical therapies work hand in hand with daily holistic practices like mindfulness, Reiki, and yoga, so we treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Will I have the same therapist throughout?
Yes. You keep the same private therapist as you move between levels of care, so your progress is never interrupted.
Are these therapies covered by insurance?
Often yes. We are in-network with WellSense and approved through MassHealth (the plan we accept is WellSense). Our team can verify your benefits.
How do I know which therapy is right for me?
Your treatment plan is individualized. After an assessment, your clinician tailors the mix of therapies to your needs and goals.
