Treating Addiction and Mental Health Together
Addiction and mental health rarely travel alone. Anxiety, depression, and trauma often drive substance use, and substance use deepens them in return. That is why, at New Wave, we treat the whole person rather than a single diagnosis. Whether you are facing a substance use disorder, a mental health condition, or both at once, our care is built to address what is really going on.
When both are present, it is called a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder, and treating the two together is the most effective path to lasting recovery. Every person who comes to us receives an individualized plan, the same therapist across levels of care, and holistic healing woven into every day. Below are the conditions we treat. Conditions We Treat FAQs
Want to talk to a real person? Call us, someone in recovery will answer.
What conditions does New Wave Recovery treat?
We treat substance use disorders, including alcohol, drugs, opioids, stimulants, and prescription medications, along with mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. We treat addiction and mental health together, as a dual diagnosis, when both are present.
Do you treat addiction and mental health at the same time?
Yes. Many people in recovery face both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition. Treating them together, rather than separately, is the most effective approach, and it is central to our whole-person care.
What is dual diagnosis treatment?
Dual diagnosis, or co-occurring disorder, treatment addresses substance use and a mental health condition at the same time. Because the two so often fuel each other, treating both together gives recovery the best chance to last.
Do you provide detox?
No. New Wave does not provide medical detox on site. If detox is needed first, we connect you with a trusted partner in Massachusetts, then welcome you back to begin treatment once you are stable.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Often yes. We are in-network with WellSense and approved through MassHealth (the plan we accept is WellSense). Our team can verify your benefits.
How do I know which condition I should get help for?
You do not have to figure that out alone. A confidential assessment with our team helps clarify what you are facing and what kind of care will help most. Just reach out and we will guide you.
