Our Story

Who founded New Wave Recovery Center?

New Wave began with a simple, stubborn idea: that recovery should feel like coming home, not checking into an institution. We are a family of people in long-term recovery, and we have lived the fear, the false starts, and the quiet hope that things really can change.

We built New Wave because we knew what was missing from the places we had been: warmth, real holistic care, and people who actually understood. So we created a truly holistic program by people in recovery, for people in recovery.

The owners you read about on this page are not distant names on a letterhead. They are often the same people you will sit with in a group, share a cup of coffee with in the morning, or call when a hard day hits. That is the difference between a facility and a family.

What does family-owned by people in recovery actually mean?

When you become a client at New Wave, you become a member of the family. And family does not let go.

It means the person who founded the program might also be the one leading your mindfulness group. It means our alumni coordinator picks up the phone for a 90-day check-in because she wants to, not because a script tells her to. Lived experience runs through everything we do, and research has long recognized the power of peer support in lasting recovery.

We keep 12-step low-key and pressure-free, because recovery is personal and there is no single right path. What stays constant is the feeling: calm, homey, safe, and human. We are co-ed, with dedicated men’s and women’s groups, so everyone has a space to be honest and vulnerable. You will not be a case number here. You will be known.

Whole person · mind, body, spirit

Our approach: the whole person

We treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing give you proven tools, while holistic care, Reiki, sound bowls, recovery yoga, and mindfulness, is woven into every single day so healing feels supportive rather than clinical. The two work together, not in competition.

Our schedule rotates and stays flexible, because recovery should fit a real life, not the other way around. When you are ready to talk about our programs and levels of care, our team will walk you through it with patience and zero pressure.
